Winged Dragon of Ra Deck Recipe - With immunity to any effects, the boss monster, The Winged Dragon of Ra - Immortal Phoenix, is a nightmare for OTK-type decks. Supported by the skill of Yami Marik, Immortal Sun God, this deck can compete for King of Games rank in the Yugioh Duel Links game.
If you are a user of OTK type decks such as Lunalight, Galaxy Eyes, Blue Eyes, and so on, when you against this deck, you should just give up straight away. You can never beat this deck.
We're not trying to weaken your mentality, it's just that's the reality. If you don't believe what we say, please see for yourself in a duel with the Winged Dragon of Ra deck.
How to play the Winged Dragon of Ra deck
For those of you who get the first turn:
1. After your end phase, you must have summoned Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode and have Continuous Spell of The True Son God on your field. No matter how. If you have to use a skill, use it. If you need step by step guide about summoning Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode in the first turn, just give comment below.
2. (Optional) Still after your End Phase, if possible, in your Graveyard there should be 1 Dark Spell Regeneration Trap.
Note:
- The Continuous Spell of The True Son God has the effect of preventing the opponent's special summoned monster from attacking. So only normal summoned monsters can attack.
- Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode has the effect of not being able to be targeted for attacks and card effects.
If the 2 cards above are already on your field then your opponent's monster cannot attack either the special summoned monster or the normal summoned monster.
See? What a terrible deck this is.
However, you still need to remember:
a. Even though the opponent cannot attack the Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode, the opponent can still attack your Life Points directly with their normal monsters.
b. Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode can be removed with non-targeting card effects such as Dark Hole, Dingirsu and so on.
For case b above, this is the function of the Trap of Dark Spell Regeneration.
If the Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode is knocked out of your field to your graveyard, you can activated effect of Dark Spell Regeneration to resurrect the Winged Dragon of RA - Sphere Mode from your graveyard.
3. On the third turn, you can OTK by sacrificing Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode to summon Winged Dragon of Ra - Immortal Phoenix, which is immune to any effects, from your Graveyard. You can send monsters on the enemy's field to the graveyard with its non-targeting effect, but at the cost of 1000 life points for each monster. So you can only send 3 enemy monsters to the graveyard because Duel Links only gives us 4000 Life Points in each match.
No need to worry about opponent Spell/Trap, because Winged Dragon of Ra - Immortal Phoenix is immune to any effects including Spell/Trap effects.
For those of you who get the second turn :
You can immediately do a combo to summon the Winged Dragon of Ra - Immortal Phoenix to carry out an OTK (One Turn Kill) attack. However, if you are unsure about opponent Spells/Traps that will interfere with you summoning the Immortal Phoenix, you can first use backrow removal such as Mystical Space Typhoon (MST), Archfiend Eccentrick, Performapal Seal Eel and others. Don't use Cosmic Cyclone! Because it will cost your LP by 1000 for each use. It's better for you to sacrifice your LP to get rid of opponent's monsters.
There are many ways to summon the Immortal Phoenix to your field. One way is to do step no. 3 above.
For other methods, we will make another post later if you are interested. Comment below 😉
How to counter and beat the Winged Dragon of Ra
Basically, what can stop the Winged Dragon of Ra deck combo is the Control Deck, because the Control Deck can bring some of the cards below to disrupt the combo. For the OTK deck, as we said above, it's hard to beat this deck combo.
Control decks are decks that predominantly rely on Spell/Trap to defend and attack. And usually decks like this are quite difficult to OTK because the attack from their boss monsters is small. Examples of control decks are Live Twin, Altergeist and others.
And here are some powerful cards that you can bring to disrupt the Winged Dragon of Ra deck combo.
1. D.D. Crow
D.D. Crow has the effect of banishing any card in the opponent's graveyard.
Because Ra's combo deck relies heavily on Graveyard, D.D. is a very useful card to disrupt its combo.
Simply banish the origin Winged Dragon of Ra from the graveyard. Not the Immortal one, not the Sphere one. But the original one.
Timing of Use :
Use this card when there is a card effect that wants to summon the original Winged Dragon of RA from the graveyard. So it will not be summoned to the opponent's field, but will be banish.
This card can be used when you take your first or second turn.
2. Backrow Removal
Such as Mystical Space Typhoon, Cosmic Cyclone, Galaxy Cyclone and others.
These cards can only be used when you get the first turn, they are not useful if you get the second turn.
Timing of Use :
Use these cards when the opponent activates the spell effect of Millennium Revelation on the field.
3. Ice's Dragon's Prison
Its effect is almost the same as that of D.D. Crow, it's just that IDP only banishes the opponent's monster cards from their graveyard, cannot banish the opponent's Spell/Trap cards.
This card is good if you get the first turn. Less useful if you get second turn.
Timing of use :
Just like the timing of use of D.D. Crow above.
4. Forbidden Droplets
This card has the effect of negating all effects of opponent monsters at the cost of discarding 1 or more cards in your hand, without targeting opponent monsters.
You can negate the effect of Winged Dragon of Ra - Sphere Mode with this card, and can attack the opponent.
This card is less useful because even when Sphere Mode is destroyed by battle, the Immortal Phoenix effect in the graveyard will activate which will summon itself to the field.
Those are some ways and cards to beat the Winged Dragon of Ra deck. Next we will go to the Winged Dragon of Ra deck recipe section for those of you who want to try playing this deck.
